Liberty Middle School

What an amazing soccer season this year for our boys and girls soccer teams. Our last HOME game is tomorrow, Thursday, November 21, with a start time of 3pm. Student athletes should be back by 230pm for warm ups prior to the game. Also our $12 taco dinners will be available for pick up from 2pm to 4pm. Extra dinners will be available for purchase as well, so come to the game and buy a dinner to support ALL our students.

Our winterguard tryouts started today. We had an amazing turnout of talented individuals eager to join the team! We were thrilled to see so many passionate performers bring their energy, creativity, and dedication to tryouts. We can't wait to see what Coach Megan, Coach Liberty, and the Liberty Winterguard bring this season. Tryouts continue on Thursday.

Thank you to the families who were able to join us for our fall sports celebration for volleyball, flag football, and cheer. These young athletes have shown exceptional dedication, teamwork, and spirit. Staff Spotlight: Mrs. O'Quinn Mrs. O'Quinn is our last Veteran staff member for our November staff spotlight. She has been teaching at Liberty for the past 10 years, and is the PLC leader of the Math 7 team on campus. Before stepping into the classroom, she served in the United States Navy for seven years. She was an Aircrew Survival Equipmentman, where she was responsible for the life-saving gear that keeps naval pilots and aircraft safe during their flights and emergencies. Her experience and attention to detail in high-pressure situations has shaped her approach to teaching, instilling resilience, teamwork, and critical thinking in her students. Mrs. O'Quinn goes above and beyond. As the leader of her math team, she fosters collaboration among her colleagues, mentoring them to implement engaging teaching strategies. With her experience and leadership skills, she empowers both her students and fellow staff members, inspiring the next generation to soar to new heights.

Picture make up day is this Wednesday, November 20. This day is for students and staff who missed the original picture day or new students to Liberty after October 9th. Students will be taking their photos during their regularly scheduled PE class

The Liberty rally was a blast! Our Liberty Percussion team kicked off the rally with a high energy performance. The Pink themed rally featured a friendly Staff vs Students showdown with volleyball and dodgeball matches, along with a fun round of musical chairs, scooter races. Some of the staff even performed a dance for students. Everyonehad a great time, and 8th grade came out on top, winning the ultimate prize of having lunch outside with music. It was a day full of excitement, music, and school spirit. Thank you to everyone that helped made this a successful event for all our students. Have a great weekend.

Wrestling and Basketball cheer tryouts will be the first week after we return from Thanksgiving break. If your student is interested in either sport, please fill out the permission slip on Parentsquare.com The form will be available tonight, Friday, November 15, at 5pm.

Winter percussion tryouts were a great success. We had an incredible turnout of talented students. With such a strong group of performers, we are excited for what the season holds. Get ready, Patriots, for an exciting time at our Liberty Rally tomorrow, Friday, November 15. This rally is about celebrating our school. Our ASB has been working hard, decorating, and putting this event together. Our Liberty students are encouraged to wear pink.

Staff Spotlight: Mr. Garcia. Mr. Garcia is an inspiring ELA teacher at Liberty Middle School. He has been working at a Liberty for the past 5 years and is the PLC leader of the ELA8 team. After enlisting in the United States Navy straight out of high school, he spent years working on jets, where he learned the value of precision, discipline, and teamwork. Following his service, he continued to work on the naval base. He also worked in the food industry, sharpening his leadership skills and developing a strong work ethic. Not afraid of hard work or criticism, Mr. Garcia embraced every challenge along the way. Eventually, after starting a family, he felt a calling to education and transitioned to the classroom. Now, as a teacher, he brings his resilience and life experience to inspire his students, creating a supportive and engaging environment. His journey from the Navy and the food industry to education is a testament to his belief in the power of persistence and transformative impact of learning.

Our Liberty 8th Grade students will be taking their Science Interim Testing tomorrow, November 13th, during their regularly scheduled science class. Please make sure they have a charged chromebook for testing.

Staff spotlight: Mr. Keel Mr. Keel is a paraprofessional on our Liberty Campus, and he has been working here for a total of 10 years. Not only does he help staff and students in class, but he also coaches many of the sports teams throughout the season. Mr. Keel is one of three veterans at Liberty. Our yearbook staff interviewed him on his service. In 1972, he enlisted into the Marine Corps. He started as a radio communicator, and then he served during the Vietnam War as a foreign observer. As an observer, he had to find out the location of the enemy's machine guns, supplies holes, and artillery. After the Marine Corps, he joined the United States Navy, and then lastly, the United States Army. His fondest memories are the friendships he made during his service. Mr. Keel is the kind of person who naturally builds strong, meaningful relationships with students and staff. His warm and approachable demeanor creates an environment where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to succeed. His genuine care extends beyond the classroom, as he collaborates effortlessly with fellow staff members, sharing ideas, supporting initiatives, and always working to improve the Lemoore community. Competition is heating up as advisory classes continue to receive donations for the canned food drive. Mrs Banuelos, E is leading, followed closely by Mr Garcia's class. Not far behind is Ms. Escobedo's class. Every contribution counts, and there's still time to help your student's advisory team take the lead before the contest ends on 11/21. Let's keep the momentum going and fill those bins with generous donations.

We are encouraging our Patriots to wear Red, White, and Blue tomorrow, Friday, November 8, for school spirit and in observance of Veterans Day. Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, November 11, for Veterans Day. Our Liberty Marching Band and Colorguard will be performing with Lemoore High School at the Veterans Day parade. We hope you can join us.

Our ASB and Band students are selling tickets to our Taco Dinner Fundraiser. You may also purchase from the front office. We are selling tickets for $12 each, CASH ONLY. Each dinner comes with 3 tacos (either chicken or asada) rice, and beans. Pick up will be on Thursday, November 21st, from 2pm to 4pm. Just a reminder that day is an early release day for Parent Teacher conferences; school ends at 1:38pm. We appreciate your support. All proceeds help benefit our end of the year activities and trips for ALL Liberty students. We are also currently still going through our Canned Food Drive event. Liberty has been challenged to donate over 3000 items to our local community, by Thursday November 21st. We have two weeks left. Your kindness and support make a real difference. Together, we're helping to provide meals and hope to our community. Thank you.

This year, our Liberty history team hosted an exciting and educational mock election, giving students a hands-on opportunity to experience the democratic process. The event not only energized the school community but also inspired students to take more of an active interest in politics and civic engagement.

We are proud to recognize our Liberty Students of the Month, chosen by their Advisory teachers for their commitment to integrity. Their actions set a powerful example, proving that integrity is not just about doing the right thing when others are watching, but doing the right thing all the time.
