Congratulations Liberty Middle School for your 2024 Redesignation status and recognition from the California League of Educators. On Friday, State Superintendent Tony Thurmond shared a statewide communication announcing the 52 high-performing middle schools recognized as 2024 California Schools to Watch. Schools to Watch is a national network of over 600 schools in 17 states. Schools must apply and submit an application in the fall that is reviewed by experienced middle grade experts in their state. If the application is approved, the schools have a validation visit to ensure qualifications are met. Liberty Middle School was first selected in 2018, redesignated in 2021 and earned their second redesignated in 2024. Schools become a California School to Watch in March and a National School to Watch in June. The California Schools to Watch program is supported by the California Department of Education, the California League of Educators, and the California Middle Grades Alliance in association with The National Forum. Program partners include, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), California School Boards Association (CSBA), and the California Teachers Association (CTA). Congratulations Liberty Middle School!
